Wow! Old Time Gold. Heath Curdts is a fantastic teacher! (SL, Lark Camp student)
A patient and encouraging teacher, Heath loves passing on what he knows using a clear, step-by-step approach. Over the past 35 years he has taught countless new and advanced players, privately and at festivals and camps including the Festival of American Fiddle Tunes, CBA Music Camp, Pinewoods Camp, Walker Creek Music Camp, and more than twenty Lark Camps.
Heath started playing the banjo as a teenager in Virginia. Initially self-taught, he learned much of his music directly from older traditional players, especially Tommy Jarrell in the Round Peak area of North Carolina, with whom he studied intensively. Over the years he has performed with the Possum Trot String Band, Blue Mountain Ramblers (with Jody Stecher and Paul Hostetter), Kindly Brothers (with Paul Brown), Tommy Jarrell, Benton Flippen, Franklin George, and Mike Seeger.
