Choro Music of Brazil

Choro Music of Brazil

Choro originated in the 19th century, and combines beautiful melodies, advanced harmony, and compelling rhythms. We’ll make beautiful music from compositions of the top composers of the 30’s, 40’s and 50’s in Brazil, such as Jacob Bandolim and Pixinguinha. Pam will have music for C and Bb instruments. Brazilian choro is perfect for mandolin, guitar, clarinet, flute, saxophone, violin, accordion and pandeiro (Brazilian percussion). Melody players will need to have solid music reading skills, and chord players should be ready to play some 1/2 diminished chords. Our focus will be on making a beautiful sound, and staying present and connected with bandmates and listeners.
