Choro Music of Brazil
Choro music from Brazil, originating in the 19th century, combines beautiful melodies, advanced harmony, and compelling rhythms. We will explore tunes by Pixinguinha, Ernesto Nazareth, and others, with parts for flutes, guitars, clarinets, mandolins, and more. Lead sheets will be provided in C, with Bb charts available. Melody players will need to have solid music reading skills, and chord players should be ready to play some 1/2 diminished chords. Our focus will be on making a beautiful sound, and staying present and connected with bandmates and listeners.
