Balkan & Klezmer Ensemble

Balkan music encompasses many diverse styles from Eastern and South Eastern Europe. For this ensemble workshop, I provide written charts from transcriptions and arrangements I’ve made, with an eye to providing students access to learning not only melody parts but other musical functions: bass, harmony, inner parts and counter melodies, that all go together to create a particular musical style. I tailor the parts to encourage the participation of a wide variety of different instruments.
