Born in Madrid, Javi has been playing and studying guitar for over 25 years. In 2007, he graduated from L’Aula de Música Moderna i Jazz – the conservatory of jazz music in Barcelona. He fell in love with the music of Django Reinhardt while he was touring throughout Europe.
Javi has been performing, working as a studio musician, and teaching music in California since 2010. He composes, arranges, and performs in his own project, Barrio Manouche, employing a fusion of Flamenco, Gypsy Jazz, and Latin rhythms. The band recently played at Django Fest in Mill Valley, at the Monterey Jazz Festival, Stern Grove, and SFJAZZ in San Francisco.
