Scandinavian Turning Dances – Skills & Techniques

Discover the joys of turning with your partner around the dance floor to beautiful and inspiring Scandinavian fiddle tunes. This workshop will emphasize dance techniques, skills and basics that are essential in all Scandinavian turning dances, as we apply them to some of our favorite Scandia dances. The week will progress over time to foster greater competency. “Mixers,” dances that involve changing partners, will be an integral part of each class to facilitate the joy factor as we work to improve our dance competency over the week. We will focus primarily on dances of Sweden and Norway. Older children are welcome to participate. Bring good “pivoting” shoes (leather soles, etc.), or we’ll offer “dance socks” to go over your shoes to assist.
